Ready for takeoff...

Hello World!

Welcome to my brand new blog - My personal travel adventures - commencing with a 5-week family trip throughout Southeast Asia with kids ages 9 and 6 (almost 7). Countries to hit: Japan, Palau, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore.

Suitcases are zipped up! We're planning to carry-on our bags this entire trip and not check them at all. Travelling with some gear: GoProHero3, CanonG12, ZoomH4n audio recorder, Samsung TL350 digital still camera, 2 ipads, 3 iphones, 1 macbookPro. Hoping to talk the kids out of bringing their giant pillow pets.

Climate change #docfilm research meetings in Palau are set with Yimnang Golbuu at the PICRC and the legendary environmental activist Noah Idechong. Oceanographers/Marine Scientists Rob Dunbar and Robert Richmond will be there concurrently with a group of 30 Stanford students, so it sounds like fun!

First stop: Tokyo, with an short excursion to a ryokan in Nikko. Then Palau. Flying the "Dreamliner" nonstop Boston-Narita tomorrow. Just a 13-hour flight.... Wish us luck!
